Every year, The Inquirer & Mirror names the Nantucket’s brightest stars, individuals who add to the quality of life on our island just by who they are and what they do. These are people who seek no public recognition, and put in countless hours of work outside their regular jobs with no thought toward compensation.
This year, both Robin and EJ were named.
This husband and wife team always have community in mind. After volunteering her time as a basketball coach for countless girls over the years, first at the Boys & Girls Club and then at the high school, and raising two daughters who called the basketball court their second home for the years they played, Robin decided the time had come to increase her public service. She ran for and was elected to a seat on the School Committee, where she has been a staunch advocate for students and teachers. EJ regularly puts his culinary skills to use at many of the nonprofit events on the island like the Boys & Girls Club Clambake and Summer Groove concert, and this Christmas – as they have in the past – they will be working with their staff to provide free turkey dinners to those who are home alone. And they do it all without seeking any kind of public recognition. If that isn’t the definition of a shining star, we don’t know what is.
